| What: | Annual Fair Housing Contest Awards Ceremony For the past twelve years the Narragansett Affordable Housing Corporation (NAHC) has been educating students about state and federal Fair Housing Laws. Students have participated in an interesting, interactive and in-depth educational seminar on issues surrounding Fair Housing Laws and housing discrimination. The NAHC provided educational seminars to elementary school students and invited them to enter a contest on the topic of Fair Housing and Discrimination. Students from participating schools have competed in a contest entry resulting in four winners per school. Many students submitted excellent entries in regards to fair housing and creative ideas on how to stand against discrimination. Students from ten communities – Cumberland, East Greenwich, Exeter, Jamestown, Hopkinton, Narragansett, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, West Greenwich and Westerly will be represented at the Awards Ceremony. They will be presented with gubernatorial citations along with a $50.00 Savings Bond. |
